It’s easy to order a table top online. Plenty of websites offer nice glass tops at competitive price. All you need is a few measurements. Let’s see how to measure the proper way. For square or rectangle table tops, measure the width and length of the glass. For round table tops, measure the diameter from the middle of the table. Make sure to measure through the center of the table, all the way from one side to the other. In both cases, always measure from the inside of the table frame.
If you are replacing glass for a patio table, remember to drill holes to fit umbrellas.
After you measure the general size, take a piece of broken glass and measure its thickness.
Double check all sizes and so you know exactly the sizes you need to order.

Thickness of the glass top depends on the type of table you have. The amount of weight a glass table can withstand depends on its support frame. For instance, a table supports more weight if it has a middle support. Tables with frames use thiner glasses. If the glass is the actual surface and has no frame, you will need a thickness above 6mm. If the table top is longer than 80cm, you will need an even thicker glass.
